About Shrimp Scampi with or without Wine or Beer Recipe

Shrimps do not need a great amount of time for cooking, this way keeps their flavor and juice. Be aware, too much cooking time makes the Shrimp Scampi less juicy and chewier. At the supermarket or in the grocery stores you can find shrimps with shells removed. But if you find them with coils attached, is good to know that you can remove the shells at home. Only remove the head, the crust, the tail, and finally the intestine. You can also try my other recipe for shrimp scampi, a more complex and more flavor added than this one. But never underestimate a simple recipe, because where are few ingredients, the flavor of the main one is more present. Therefore, this simple shrimp scampi recipe is for persons who really like the taste of shrimps. Moreover, if you want your shrimps to have a better flavor, I do recommend using the white wine variation. On the other hand, one of my cook friends is using beer instead of white wine, and the taste is also awesome. To know what variation you like more, prepare the scampi starting with the vinegar ingredient, another time with beer, and keep the wine variation last (in my opinion, this is the best). No matter how you make it, the shrimps will be creamy and tasty!

The original recipe of Shrimp Scampi

What sides go well with shrimp scampi?

A simple green salad is great as a side dish for shrimp scampi because it cuts the richness of the scampi with the fresh crispness of the tossed greens. Use bitter greens such as spinach, kale, and arugula for their pungency to cut the richness of the scampi, especially when adding cream to the dish.

leaf.tv sais (link above): “Shrimp scampi gets its rich flavor from a blend of butter, garlic, herbs and lemon. Although shrimp scampi can be served over pasta, serving it with a side dish or two, along with bread and appetizer, creates a bistro-style meal worthy of the dish’s European roots. Choose between starch and vegetable side dishes to complement this shellfish-based protein main course“.

Great for weight-loss

It has very low calories, low fat or saturated fat, and great fish-like nutrients. Therefore, if you have a weight-loss program, this is one of your brunch or lunch meals… or even dinner!
