About the Vegetarian Bread Stuffing (Popular recipe)
With only a few base ingredients, you can delight your guests by adding on the table this popular Stuffed Bread. You only need to have celery stalks with leaves, onion, margarine (or butter), soft bread cubes, chopped fresh thyme (or dried thyme leaves), ground sage, salt, and pepper. That’s it! How simple is that? I chose to make this Bread Stuffing recipe at Thanksgiving Dinner, and it was a good idea. I saw many variations on the internet like stuffed bread with beef or poultry, but this vegetarian and simple recipe is way better. If you didn’t adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, besides stuffed bread, you can prepare any beef-based food (choose one from my cookbook if you’re out of ideas). The great thing about the vegetarian recipe for bread stuffing is the simplicity, why turn it into a complex one? When Thanksgiving dinner is full of great and complex food, this dish will bring with it some simplicity and yellowish color on the table.
Tips for Stuffed Bread
Like many of my recipes on Cook After Me, I add some tips or variations here and there for persons who want to learn about the recipe’s features. Well, this also has some tips (or notes if you like to name them that way).
1. Essential Equipment for Bread Stuffing Recipe:
For this type of dish, it’s recommended to have a Dutch oven (about 4-quart size large) or 12-inch skillet.
2. Variation: Lighter Bread Stuffing
For 6 grams of fat and 130 calories per serving, decrease margarine to 1/4 cup. Heat margarine and 1/2 cup chicken broth to boiling in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Cook celery and onion in broth mixture.
Why Vegetarian Bread Stuffing is better than any other during Thanksgiving dinner?
During Thanksgiving dinner, you will have on the table, like any American who respects this holiday, several dishes along with that delicious turkey in the center of all. If you calculate all those calories… well, don’t do that because you’ll get scared. A vegetarian dish with bread as the main ingredient is more perfect than another meat-based food. Moreover, vegetarian stuffed bread can be a color changer from the table, and when a meal is full of color, your success in the kitchen will be 100% appreciated.
I have read all the above and still want to add meat to this popular stuffed bread!
I cannot argue with your taste buds! If you want to add meat to this recipe, know that are not many variations to it (only if I change the entire recipe). If you really really want to add meat, the cooked ground beef mixture is the only ingredient it pops into my mind.
