How is it better to prepare the Meatloaf?

For crispier edges, bake meatloaf on a baking sheet. Out of foil, create a self-made pan with edges to keep the drippings from the meatloaf as it’s baked. Shape the meatloaf and place it into the foil. The meatloaf may be frozen before cooking. To freeze, prepare meatloaf as per my instructions. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and foil, then freeze.

About Meatloaf with Mozzarella Recipe

Meatloaf is said to be a traditional European dish and is a cousin to meatballs or South Africa’s bobotie. But like all other food dishes or recipes, it has numerous variations in cooking techniques and additional ingredients that vary from country to country.

But what I love most about this classic popular dish is that it’s a no-fuss recipe and very economical. You could go as simple as seasoning your ground meat with salt, pepper, and bouillon powder. But most of the ingredients here are probably sitting in your kitchen already.

Can I use Cheddar Cheese instead of Mozzarella, or any other type of cheese?

In cooking, it is all about taste, your taste. Therefore, you can use any other cheese instead of Mozzarella. On every cookbook site, the ingredients are recommended only. Using Cheddar Cheese will change the flavor of the meatloaf, but if you like cheddar, you must use this ingredient. Moreover, another variation of one of my friends is to use Parmigiano or Parmesan cheese. I like all my recipes to have balanced flavors, and in my opinion, for this simple meatloaf, Mozzarella is the best.

How can I know if the meatloaf is cooked professionally?

There is no such thing as “cooked professionally”. If the meatloaf tastes like a burger patty, it is well-cooked. It also needs to have a brown color and the meat well cooked (evenly). Thant’s it.

The history of Meatloaf

The origins of this meatloaf are unclear because this kind of baked mince was found in many kitchens across many countries. The first records date back to the Roman Empire being recorded by the famous Apicius. Meatloaf would be translated as “meat brisket”. Germans, Swedes, English, and Americans have different meatloaf recipes. In times of economic depression, the world ate a lot of meatloaves because in its composition, there were many elements meant to increase the amount of final preparation and to feed more mouths: bread, vegetables, cooked cereals, etc.

Vegetarian Meatloaf with Mozzarella

To have a vegetarian recipe instead of this one, you only need to replace the beef with mushrooms. Another way to make it is to replace the meat with soy. And the last variation, and the best option (in my opinion), is to replace the beef with both mushrooms and soy meat. You can also replace the mozzarella with cheddar, but this variation is for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meatloaves.
