About the Au Gratin Potatoes recipe

Usually, I was preparing them after a simple recipe until I went to a good friend of mine, an extraordinary chef who likes to play with ingredients and standard recipes. I knew he would make BBQ with gratinated potatoes, which seemed too simple for him.

Well, I was surprised every time he cooked, and now I was surprised again. He made from a simple recipe, something royal, with a phenomenal taste that was not only given by the BBQ, but also by the side dish. Adding the Cheddar Cheese and butter will make this garnish an excellent side dish. Another great reason to prepare au gratin potatoes, respecting the steps below, is you don’t need bread on the table.

This side dish already has bread-crumbs in its composition, and the dinner bread isn’t necessary anymore. There are some persons who would think, “why should I need a recipe for a simple side dish?”, and the answer is always the same: most of us needs the perfect ingredient combinations to achieve the best result, and the au gratin potatoes made this way will be a great success. If you try this recipe, you will understand why.

What goes well with au gratin potatoes?

There are a lot of dishes that go well with this kind of side dish. For example, you can prepare Pork Tenderloin as the main meal for your dinner, or go for Pork BBQ Ribs if you want your skills to be really appreciated. I told you first about pork recipes because this kind of side dish makes a perfect combination with pork meat.

If you choose beef meat to be your main meal, au gratin potatoes go well with the Juicy Hawaiian Marinated Steak BBQ due to its unique flavor. If you’ll choose the Hawaiian steak, make sure you or any family member are not on a weight-loss diet. As for chicken meat, it goes well with almost any recipe from my cookbook.

But these were the combos with meat, but if you’ve adopted a vegetarian lifestyle, au gratin potatoes can be eaten simply on its own or with a salad. Choose a salad with at least 2-3 vegetables, maybe more complex than simple. For example, you can choose the Caesar salad to have also the taste from Anchovy, or keep it a bit simpler if choosing the Greek salad with Lemon dressing. Bot salads go well with au gratin potatoes.

Vegetarian Side Dish

As I mentioned above, what goes well for this vegetarian au gratin potatoes, the dish is prepared with only vegetarian ingredients (but not vegan). Normally, I would have chosen to put some bacon in the composition, but why not have a vegetarian side dish and add it to the variation list bacon? If you have embraced the vegetarian lifestyle, this side dish is great if you want to have a “tasty evening”.
